Headaches | Stopping Headaches and Migraine Pain
15,000,000 Americans suffer from recurring headaches. According to a U.S. Public Health Service Report, these sufferers spend 300 million dollars each year for headache remedies. There are two major types of chronic headaches:
The tension headache is a regular pain that can be caused by a number of factors.
The migraine headache (also called vascular headache, migraine syndrome, or sick headache) results from stretched arteries and nerves of the head. The headache may last several hours or several days and could be mild or severe. The migraine syndrome usually starts on one side of the head and my spread to the entire head as the headache develops. The pain of the migraine is usually felt as a sever, throbbing pain in the temples, but there are some sufferer who experience pain anywhere in the head, including the face and neck. Symptoms that may occur during a migraine are irritability, sensitivity to bright light, constipation, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
The frightening aspect of the migraine headache is what is called "pre-headache phenomena." This means that the sufferer learns the signals of the approaching attach, know it is on its way, or lives in fear that it will come at an important time or occasion. The pre-headache phenomena starts with a slight fluttery feeling in the stomach, then quickly is followed by the sensation that lights and colors seem brighter than usual.
Another part of the migraine headache is called "the migraine equivalents." The symptoms may include:
  • Abdominal pains
  • Pains in the arms/legs
  • Diarrhea
  • Rapid mood changes
  • Chest pains
  • Non-painful vomiting
  • Swelling body parts
  • Fever
A study of migraine headache attacks and their long-range effects show that often there is a general disintegration of the sufferer's personality. The history of the migraine proves that is is only a matter of time until the chronic, recurring migraine attacks lead to serious emotional instability or outright mental breakdown.
What To Do?
Thousands of x-rays have proven that the migraine headache trouble develops when one or more of the neck bones are misaligned or forced out of normal position. Since the nerves and blood vessels pass through the small openings and canals in between the neck bones a misalignment produces a pinching-traction that stretches the nerves and blood vessels leading to the head.
